She plans to begin working towards her Masters degree in the health and fitness field in the near future. Jalena takes a more holistic approach to health by helping clients understand the importance of nutrition, exercise and stress reduction for living a better life through better health.
Jalena’s love for fitness and nutrition started after her mother was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in 2006. During the course of her mother’s illness Jalena dove into reading and learning about the importance of exercise and healthy eating. After her mother lost her battle to cancer in early 2007, Jalena became even more dedicated to her own health and fitness. Before that time she had some very bad lifestyle habits.
She was eating unhealthy, not exercising, drinking too much alcohol, taking diet pills and skipping meals. She was also suffering from debilitating stomach problem including gastrointestinal distress, reflux, throwing up entire meals, constipation, gas, bloating and general sluggishness. After extensive testing all the doctors could say was she had IBS (irritable bowl syndrome).
Over the next six years she tried everything to relieve her symptoms; including daily exercise and healthier eating. Although daily exercise and a healthier diet did alleviate some of the symptoms, it wasn’t until she was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2011 that she truly started to feel her best.
Jalena believes that her purpose in life is to save people from the heartbreak she felt from losing her mother by helping others stay healthy through education, nutrition, exercise and stress management. Jalena runs monthly group challenges and works with clients individually. She also offers in-person, clean-eating classes as well as basic getting-started programs.
Jalena’s life motto is:
“Do that which you are afraid to do. You only have one life, so live it to the fullest!”
